Codex is available in early access. Other assistants are not yet verified for Sortly. The full parent connection journey is still being verified; opening this guide does not connect an account.
Codex early access
Connect Codex to Sortly.
You need an existing Sortly parent account and a supported Codex client.
Show Codex setup instructions
Use a current Codex version with static OAuth-client support. These settings were checked with Codex CLI 0.164.0. Opening this guide does not install anything or grant access to your family’s plans.
Add Sortly to Codex. Add the block below to your existing ~/.codex/config.toml, keeping your other settings. The live server address is https://mcp.getsortly.app/. Keep the trailing slash in both address fields.
The client ID is public. There is no client secret or parent token to copy. Keep the exact callback and port shown above. If port 42881 is already in use, stop the competing local listener or ask Sortly support for help before changing it.
Sign in and give consent. Run:
codex mcp login sortly --scopes openid
Complete Sortly’s parent SMS sign-in and OAuth consent in the browser. Enter your SMS code only on Sortly’s sign-in page. Never paste passwords, sign-in codes or access tokens into a chat.
Choose what Codex can access. In Codex, ask it to call Sortly’s get_context tool. Open the activation link it returns, then choose the children and permissions to share. No family information is available before you activate the connection. Call get_context again after activation. Restart or reload Codex if the Sortly tools do not appear.
Review or revoke access. Open Assistant connections in Sortly whenever you want to check or revoke the connection. Shared changes still need your approval in Sortly.
This is early access. Codex sign-in and tool discovery were checked on a test service; the complete parent journey is still being verified. If setup stops, contact Sortly support.
With Codex early access
More help. Less organising.
Check the plans you choose
Your agent can read the selected children’s agenda, playdates and recent updates, plus their own and already-visible free time.
Prepare free time and playdate changes
Ask for a proposed change, then review its exact details and who it affects in Sortly. Shared free-time and playdate changes need your separate approval before they can happen. Rescheduling still needs the other household’s agreement.
Save new private free time, if you allow it
Only your explicit permission to save new private free time lets your agent save it immediately. It is not shared and sends no notification. Changes to existing private free time still need review and approval.
Keep the usual notifications
After a change, Sortly can queue its usual notifications when eligible. This does not guarantee delivery or that someone has read them. Your agent cannot send arbitrary messages or background reminders through Sortly.
Sign in as a parent on Sortly’s website and explicitly choose the children and permissions for that connection. No family information is available before you activate it. Never paste passwords, sign-in codes or access tokens into a chat.
Keep access limited
Your agent only sees permitted information for the children you select. It does not receive care or health notes, contact details, exact home addresses or information about unselected children. Cancelling a playdate needs its own opt-in permission.
Review shared changes in Sortly
Your agent prepares a preview. You check the exact summary in Sortly before approving it; approval in an assistant’s chat does not replace this step.
Revoke access when you choose
You can revoke the connection in Sortly’s Assistant connections. Signing out or disconnecting only in your assistant does not replace revoking its Sortly access.

ChatGPT’s Plugins page is where custom connections are added. You can explore the settings, but a Sortly connection has not yet been verified here.
Before you start: Availability depends on your account and workspace policies. Check that your workspace allows custom connections.
These official settings let you explore your assistant’s connection options and account requirements. Opening them does not connect Sortly.
Still needed: The client ID must match the exact callback generated by your ChatGPT server settings. That registration and the Sortly connection test are still outstanding.
Prepare ChatGPT setup
Preparation only. Sortly has not issued a client ID for this assistant. Do not reuse the Codex client ID.
On the ChatGPT website, open Plugins and choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Your account or workspace must allow this.
Use Sortly as the name, enter https://mcp.getsortly.app/ as the server URL, and choose OAuth.
When the server’s settings show an OAuth callback URL, send only that callback URL to Sortly support. Do not send the full sign-in URL, a token, a code or a password. If no callback is shown, ask support for help before continuing.
Wait for Sortly support to supply the registered client ID and confirm the remaining steps. No ChatGPT client ID is available yet.
Explore Customize → Connectors. This opens Claude’s settings, without adding a Sortly connection.

Enter https://mcp.getsortly.app/ as the server URL. Choose Sign in now and Use your own OAuth client, then enter the client ID from Sortly support. Leave the secret blank.
Follow the connection instructions supplied by Sortly support, then sign in and choose access in Sortly when prompted.
Grok Bot has Connect apps in its sidebar, or in the avatar menu on mobile. It is a separate product from Grok. Future Sortly access will be account-wide, not limited to one bot’s name.
Before you start: Availability depends on your account. The guide does not establish a universal plan or region requirement; check your Grok Bot account.
This opens your assistant’s official setup instructions. Opening the guide does not connect Sortly.
Still needed: Sortly must confirm Grok Bot’s support for a registered client ID, observe its actual callback and verify the connection. Grok and Cursor setup instructions do not establish this.
